Felicitation of the retired teachers who taught us during the period 1974 to 1986 was also held the day before (16th December 2011) at the College Main Hall followed by a dinner. Many 86ers were present on that occasion as well. It was truly an emotional moment for most of us as we met some of those past teachers who taught us in our early school days.

Note from a teacher...
From the time one of you phoned to tell me to keep Dec 16 free for a program to felicitate the teachers, my collegues and I, looked forward to it. Two of the teachers who could not attend due to age,  were very appreciative of you coming to their homes and personally inviting them. Then come D day, the16th. We did not quite know what to expect, as we arrived.

The highlight of the evening was to chat to  some of you who were in my class and whom I had taught.I am sure the other teachers felt the same. We felt glad that you sought us out and came to say hello as we surely may not have been able to recognize you / remember your names. It warmed our hearts to think that you still remembered us with affection!. I was humbled as the gentleman who wecomed us at the door worshipped as he offered the traditional betle leaves- for me it was Dr Siriwardene.

The sayings on the banners brought tears to my eyes, as we never dreamt that you will even remember us when we taught you. This was my first job. Thank you for the very meaningful way you had arranged the religious ceremony to bless us. Most of what I remembered from Manju Ariyaratnes's speech I related to my family, who are always amazed at how grateful Royalists are to their teachers.I hope someone will put it on your web site or on You Tube.

Thank you very much for the fine dinner, the personalized memento, the photograph with the thank you messages  and the gift pack, that you gave us. It seems you thought of everything that we would love to have and take back with us.

I know I will treasure the memory of the evening always. Thank you for gentleman for taking time off your busy schedules to make a memorable evening for us. We are proud of you, because of the people you have become, not qualifications alone, but more importantly, in humane qualities. I think you have learned that "Giving is the highest level of living"to  quote  John Maxwell.

May God bless you and guide you, Wish you all thats best for 2012
Sincerely
Mrs Faith Wickramasuriya (nee Guruswamy)

Note from a 86er...
Today, we take a new breath and head for a new mission in life with a great sense of fulfillment as we were able to pay reverence & gratitude to teachers of our time, on Friday 16th December at our Alma Mater. It was a very memorable & touchy moment for all of us to see our Grade 1 teachers and many others who taught us in our Primary classes after almost 03 decades, gracefully old and we as matured Adults. I’m sure most of you would have run into your happy childhood memories of years back. They molded our lives to who we are today, equally shouldering the responsibility as our parents to bring us up as responsible citizens. Today we live with dignity and sense of pride to the guidance and education received from them. Last Friday, we were all lucky to be blessed by our teachers again at the multi religious blessings ceremony we arranged for them and may they all be blessed with good health and every joy in life for many more years to come. Dear Organizing Committee & Exco Members, Thank you all for making it happen, taking all the trouble to walk the extra mile to draw a smile on the faces of our dear teachers! So let’s Get together and carry out more enriching projects for the betterment of our Alma Mater and it’s guardians.
